It rained a little bit and an art festival booth popped up in my backyard!
Well, I’ve been working really hard lately to make my newly acquired festival booth ready for work. I’ve decided to jump into the festival scene. It makes sense, really… because I live in Florida: I already have a pretty serious ‘farmer’s tan!’ I consider that a big advantage over the other festival-going artists from ‘pasty states.’ Seriously.
So, my goal is still to get gallery representation, but I know that I need to further my reputation and exposure as well. I’m going to try to stick to only juried festivals which are a little more stressful to enter because there’s no guarantee of getting in, but the quality and reputations of the shows tend to be better. At least that’s the way I feel about it now. I hope it will work out for me; I’m doing my best to make it a successful venture.
I’ve got to thank my Grandparents, Bud and Pat Cullison, for investing in the actual tent for the booth. I have to thank John Raya for the actual panels and great booth/festival advice. I have to thank my Father and Mother, Mark and Stephenie Cullison, for their continued support, advice, extra hands, tools (that I never return,) career management and of course, their love. And last, but not least, my Wife, Christina, for her unending love and support. I couldn’t do it without her.
So here we go off into the wild blue yonder…

Hi Jason, this post is over a year old, but I like your tent set up and was wondering what you used to hang your paintings on. I am in the process of setting up for my first art show. Thanks. Kim

Now, I have fabric covered panels and I use drapery hooks; they work great and you can use multiples when you have heavier pieces to hang. Plus, they give you a little more freedom of placement on your panels. Hope that helps - best of luck to you!
